Service ok food was ok. Salsa way to hot. staff not friendly and very loud in there.

Visit on 2/24/2020. I am an officer and was there with fellow officers. We all became sick after eating there. Whether the food was contaminated or if they just poisoned our food because we were in uniform I can not say. But there WILL be an investigation.

You can't be a five star Mexican restaurant without serving five star margaritas. Food was good, but i don't think there's much tequila in the margaritas

I loved the food here. The food was amazing, and the staff were great. The food came out quick and was absolutely delicious.

Patio is not dog friendly. We were traveling and had our old boy with us. We were the only people outside but were still told someone might complain, so I should go leave him I'm the car (it was in the 70s already, which means even hotter in the car). Left and went to El Chico where he was given his own water bowl and received affection from both staff and customers (like any other restaurant with outdoor seating these days).

It was clean ,the waiters were very friendly and the food was amazing we will eat here again .thank you El metate

I have eaten here several time. Second favorite Mexican food around Knoxville. I haven't found a place with better carnitas and a VERY healthy portion. They have great queso! Its a small building with close seating. They have a small bar area that is right next to the door of a patio section.

Horrible...ordered to go and food was half size, no veggies, rice, beans 1 am container of salsa for 5 meals never again! Cancun or Taco Bell is far superior...

Great food and didn't take very long at all to order and get seated. They kept us 6 feet from other people, and it was a wonderful night.

A group of 9 of us went here a couple nights ago for the first time and the food was great (I had the Shrimp al Mojo de Ajo, so good!) BUT I really want to comment on the customer service. We arrived around 7:30, were seated right away, ate, and left around 8:45. Came out to the parking lot to find one of our cars wouldn't start. We knew it wasn't the battery because all the lights, radio, etc. were working, but we tried to jump it off anyway. No luck. Truck was clicking when attempting to start, so we figured it was the starter but none of us knew what to do from there. Within a few minutes, several of the staff came out and even though there was a bit of a language barrier, were able to help manually manipulate the starter and get the truck started so we could make it home. We are so thankful for their help and will definitely be back to support their establishment just based on that experience alone! Thank you so much!

Good food service a little slow. Gives military discount depending on who you ask not consistent.

Stopped going here awhile back because the food and service was not the way it had use to be. I decided to give it another try and glad I did they have changed the menu the it’s really good also the staff is more friendly. Will keep coming back love the change.

Great choice of Mexican entrees! The shredded beef is excellent in any of the dishes. Fajitas are superb! Good salsa. Best Fried Ice Cream! Friendly, attentive service. Good prices. Highly recommend!

I love the fresh warm chips and salsa they start you out with! Service is prompt and friendly...This is my go to place close to home for some great Mexican food and Margaritas!

Best Mexican food around! The staff is also very kind. If you like spicy I recommend the molcajete. It’s so good!

Used to be really good, something has happened. My wife got a ground beef chimi. She's been getting them there for a couple of years now. Beef was like mush. Tortilla wasn't deep fried. Told our waitress, Maria, she asked like she could care less. Paid for it even though she couldn't eat it.

It has great food.

I guess I'll give a one star for the waitress. The food was absolutely horrible. I got the nachos with chicken and it was so bland. I couldn't even continuing eating it. On my way home from eating there, I started feeling sick and puked when I got home. The salsa tasted like tomato paste or marinara sauce. The queso came out cold. The soda was watery. The people giving these good reviews probably don't have taste buds. If you want good Mexican food that doesn't have a clueless manager or nasty food go down the road to Plaza Mexico or drive a little further to Don Jose's at the four way in Gibbs.

Got take out...fajitas, got home no flour tortillas. The second meal was wrong also, left beans on quesadilla when we asked for them to be left off. We called and talked to the “sub” manager. I asked if we had to drive all the way back to get our meals fixed would he remake the steak fajitas because they would obviously be cold and he declined to remake them. I guess we will take our business elsewhere where the restaurant takes care of us when they screw the order up.

Food was good it was the first time that I had been there place was super packed but we got in in about 10 minutes everything we ordered was excellent will be visiting again and the waiter was definitely always checking on us to see if we needed anything else would recommend this place to anyone that's never been

We go here often and enjoy the food and atmosphere. Servers are always friendly and the restaurant is always clean! Drinks are strong and delicious also!

Bland food. Everyone saying this is the best mexican restaurant in Knox county, I feel bad for you. I ordered the #3 lunch special (A bean burrito, cheese enchilada, beans and rice). The burrito was covered in a sauce that tasted exactly like jarred pizza sauce (gross), the enchilada had a bland sauce. The beans and rice were the best thing on the plate.I'd recommend any other Mexican restaurant over this one.
